WoW News and Dragonwilds News privacy policy

Updated October 7, 2026. These independent Root bots provide links to Wowhead news and Jagex announcements through Steam. They are not affiliated with Wowhead, Blizzard, Jagex or Valve.

Data used

Root delivers message events and baseline community information to installed bots. The application checks messages for news commands and checks command authors against the community owner and configured news administrators. It does not archive ordinary chat messages. It stores the community and destination channel IDs, chosen game and editions, pause state, feed health, article IDs and URLs, pending headlines and publication dates, delivery counters, recent command message IDs, and scheduler records. A pending setup draft also stores the initiating administrator's Root user ID for up to ten minutes, until confirmation, cancellation or expiration is processed.

Purpose and storage

These records configure news delivery, authorize administration, prevent repeated articles, and recover interrupted work. Records are stored using Root's application datastore for each community. Seen article keys remain for the lifetime of the installation to prevent duplicates after restarts. Queued and uncertain deliveries persist until processed or reconciled. The application has no analytics, advertising or sale of personal data.

External services

Requests to Wowhead and Steam fetch public news. The application does not send community IDs, member IDs or chat messages to these sources. Those services can receive the hosted runtime's IP address and normal HTTP request metadata. Posted links are governed by the destination site's privacy practices when opened. Root hosts the bot and controls platform storage, access and infrastructure retention under its own privacy policy.

Controls and contact

Community owners and designated news administrators can inspect status, choose coverage and pause or resume delivery. Owners can remove the bot using Root's community bot settings. Platform deletion and backup retention are governed by Root; this application does not promise immediate deletion of Root backups. For application questions or a data deletion request, contact the developer, Hydrada, through Root. Contact Hydrada through the Root community where the bot is installed. Community owners can also use the developer contact shown in the Root bot listing.
